What are some things to ask a person claiming to have been a USMC scout sniper?
Well, after 2 years of service 2ndLt's are automatically awarded a promotion to 1stLt if they aren't a POS. So he's either a liar or a POS right there. Secondly, as far as I know, Scout snipers are an enlisted only field. There isn't even a specific job code (MOS) for scout snipers. Which means officers do not employ themselves as Scout Snipers unless he was MARSOC (Marine Corps special forces) which im pretty sure you have to be a Captain to even be there. Even then, i still couldn't see an officer holding a sniper billet...how can you lead a group of Marines when you are behind a telescopic sight outside the main fight? Most Marines who have been in combat are not "very open" about talking about it, especially not to civilians. They just can't understand a lot of things and it's not worth talking about. There's also no way this moron wouldn't remember what bases he was at, or what his FOB was called. You just don't forget that ****. I doubt this guy was a Marine at all and definitely not a sniper. Ask him where he went to bootcamp. If he is from East of the Mississippi River then he would go to Parris Island, SC. If he is from west of the river, he will have gone to MCRD San Diego. If he doesn't immediately give you a straight answer, then he's a liar. Ask him what his MOS was. If he doesn't say something like 0302 or 0307, then he's a liar. Those are the only two infantry officer MOS's that he could have possibly been in and fired the M40A1 with as a 2ndLt. A Marine would NEVER forget his MOS. So if he doesn't give you a quick answer there, or something other than those 2 numbers, you know he's lying. It's also possible that he was a Marine, but was separated from service for adverse reasons. So he makes up all of these stories to make himself feel like less of a piece of ****. Let me know how it goes :D
